Selma’s Scene: Travel from a Dog’s Eye View

Hi, I’m Selma! I’m a shih tzu living with Shelley, who writes this blog, and her sometimes travel companion. You can follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter! I wanted to tell you about the fun trip we took last month, and everything I enjoyed from a dog’s eye view.

I’ve been on a road trip with Shelley before (New Orleans in June), but this was my first time on an airplane! I was a very good little girl, and had an exciting adventure making our way to Lexington, Kentucky.

Once we arrived in Lexington, we stayed in a cute little historic hotel right down the street from this awesome little park, Gratz Park. It was so exciting to be somewhere new — all the sights and sounds and, mostly, smells!

Shelley took me almost everywhere, and I had so much fun exploring the Mary Todd Lincoln house (the courtyard only), a local craft brewery, and the Kentucky Horse Park. Wow, those animals were BIG! We also did a little light hiking (hey, I have really short legs) in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

But my FAVORITE part of the whole trip was our two days at Shaker Village, a couple hours outside Lexington. This is where a few thousand Shakers used to live, back in the 1800s, and it’s basically a historical working farm now where people (and their dogs!) can spend the day or overnight. Wow, did I have a blast! There were acres to walk around and explore….trees with their beautiful fall leaves and SQUIRRELS! There were also cows, chickens, pigs, and even a ram. I was just about as happy here as I’ve ever been in my life.

Keep tuned for future Selma’s Scene blog posts whenever Shelley lets me tag along on her travels in the future! Meanwhile, I’m getting busy researching our next trip…
