On December 18, 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released worldwide. One can only hope that the rebooting of this movie franchise will be infinitely more palatable than the previous reboot attempt. (It should be given the fact that the creator of this story has done the right thing and walked away).

Regardless of your opinion, this movie is going to resonate with people of all ages. Speaking for myself, Return of the Jedi was one of the first films that I remember seeing in the theatre.

In anticipation of The Force Awakens, I would like to present you with five ways in which you can have a Star Wars inspired day.

Crestview, Florida

Do you enjoy meeting with like-minded individuals? Do you also enjoy playing games with said individuals that involve unconventional dice or card decks? Then you might be a tabletop gamer! Fear not! Every Tuesday this month at Gamemaster’s Guild in Crestview, your brethren will be meeting to play games such as Imperial Assault, Armada, X-Wing, or any of the other Star Wars RPG. Gamemaster’s Guild is located at: 743 Ashley Dr., Crestview, Florida 32536

Destin, Florida

Considering seeing The Force Awakens at AMC Destin Commons? Why not shoot down the road to Target to take a look at the Star Wars toys that you could buy your kids for Christmas? At present, you can pick up Poe’s X-Wing Fighter (made by Lego) for $80. Don’t want to get it for your child? Get it for yourself! You’re in a safe place: we won’t judge you.

Looking for a more adult-themed way to celebrate Star Wars? Nightown has you covered! Nightown is Destin’s premier nightclub for adults 18 years of age and older. Nightown has dubbed December 18th and (the wee hours of) December 19th Bar Wars Night: A Star Wars themed night in celebration of the release of The Force Awakens. Nightown is located at 140 Palmetto St., Destin, Florida 32541

Mary Esther, Florida

Don’t remember the last time that you saw the original trilogy? Need to brush up on the mythology of the Star Wars Universe? The Mary Esther library just received the re-released unaltered versions of the film franchise. Make a stop at the Mary Esther Library and see if you can pick up them up. The Mary Esther Library is located at: 100 Hollywood Blvd. West, Mary Esther, Florida 32569

Niceville, Florida

For the past few months, The Niceville Library has been hosting “Legos at the Library”. This event gives children the opportunity to make new friends and showcase their Lego building expertise. Suffice it to say that this month’s theme will be Star Wars. Please be aware: Space is limited and registration is required. You can sign up in person, or call Youth Services at 850-279-4863 (ext. 1514). The Niceville Library is located at: 206 Partin Dr. North, Niceville, Florida 32578
