12 Things to See on Your Trip to New York City

New York, New York… the Big Apple. One of the most iconic cities to ever stand and one of the biggest melting pots of culture and class in the world, New York is a fascinating place to visit and will be sure to provide you with an experience that you will never forget. There is so much to see and do that you could spend an entire trip just wandering the streets of Manhattan, but in order to get the most out of your vacation, there are twelve spots that you absolutely must hit. They’re listed here in no particular order.

1. The Statue of Liberty

Everyone has seen it in pictures or in the movies, but you can’t truly appreciate the beauty of the statue until you see it in person. Take a ferry to Ellis Island and tour the statue- the view from the top is amazing!

2. The Empire State Building

Speaking of great views, you’re definitely going to want to take a ride to the top of the Empire State Building. Most famous for its appearance in the film classic King Kong, the Empire State Building is right in the heart of the city and should not be missed.

3. The New World Trade Center 

A symbol of freedom, hope and perseverance, the site of the 9/11 attacks is now home to a gorgeous new building that is truly an emotional place to visit. Pay your respects and marvel at the architecture as you take in this fabulous sight.

4. 30 Rock

The Rockefeller Center is a must-see spot in NYC, especially if you visit during the winter- make sure to rent some ice skates and have a great time skating in the magical atmosphere of the plaza.

Another one of those iconic spots, Times Square is the home of some great street entertainment and some awesome sights.

6. Coney Island

While not as family-friendly as it once was, Coney Island is still a spot that you should at least drive by.

7. Central Park

There’s something romantic about this expansive and peaceful park right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the city. Taking a walk through the park and having a picnic makes for a great way to spend an afternoon.

8. Fifth Avenue

One of the most fabulous shopping destinations in the world, Fifth Avenue is home to some world-class shops that you absolutely must visit, even if you don’t buy anything.

9. St. Patricks Cathedral

An interesting piece of history sitting in the middle of an incredibly modern city, the Cathedral is a great chance to stare in awe at some incredibly beautiful architecture.

10. Grand Central Station

One of the most famous train stations in the world, Grand Central is absolutely beautiful. Home to plenty of great stores, the station is worth it just to walk through.

It’d be easy to spend an entire vacation just catching the world-class shows that play on Broadway, but you should try to at least visit just one, even if you’re not typically a fan of the theatre.

Another of New York’s famous landmarks, the Brooklyn Bridge gives you another chance to see some fantastic architecture. The bridge is truly beautiful and worth the trip.
